26 days of a baby suffering from influenza A and remains in intensive care for several days, said health authorities on Monday.
The''baby''was in critical condition, said Dr. Alberto Bissot, medical director of Children's Hospital, where the minor is being held a week ago.
The newborn comes from the metropolitan area last week and admitted to hospital with a respiratory table, which was deteriorating.
On Friday, he underwent a test to diagnose influenza A H1N1, the cause of the flu and was positive, the doctor explained in a press release from the Ministry of Health.
Authorities are investigating how the newborn is infected, it said.
The last report of patients with influenza A in Panama dates back to Thursday, when it had 179.
The Chief of Epidemiology in the Ministry of Health, Gladys Guerrero, said in the statement that when you update this information - no specified date - the cases will exceed 200.
Most of those infected are under 15 years and come from the province of Panama.
