El Salvador recorded 276 confirmed cases, 23 more than in the previous report. According to Public Health, many of those infected are young students from private schools. In fact, the concentration of schools, according to authorities, had been the main focus of infection.

This was one of the reasons, besides the increase in consultations for influenza and pneumonia, which led to Health, in coordination with the Ministry of Education to suspend classes for a period of 12 days in the departments of San Salvador and La Libertad . Students returning to classes next July 8.

The extent of the closure includes teaching and administrative sector. However, at least a dozen schools had staff on the premises, as expressed yesterday by Bartolom? Gil, departmental director of San Salvador. "They are mostly universities and some schools," he said.

They insist on not moving and self query if the fever is greater than 38 degrees centigrade.

San Salvador-About two million students resumed classes in public and private schools in El Salvador, after two weeks of inactivity in the prevention of human influenza.

The health and education authorities are satisfied with the measures taken since July 27 because during that period decreased respiratory diseases and has given way to a better control of the H1N1 virus that has left 12 dead and 622 infections in country.

The official infectologists and Eduardo Suarez, the Ministry of Health, confirmed that consultations for acute respiratory problems fell from 40 to 50 percent nationally.

Announced that as of other preventive measures will close the areas of the state hospitals for care of patients with symptoms of influenza in the last three weeks.

Deputy Health Sector of the Ministry of Health, Eduardo Espinoza, said the reduction was due to measures taken two weeks ago before religious festivals that celebrated the country's 1-6 August.

According to Espinoza, fewer pregnant women, children and elderly in rural places and other exhibition sites during the holiday period, which indicates that the health measures are followed.

Until Sunday there were also 109 cases of suspected H1N1, meanwhile, are monitoring 181 people for having had contact with sick people.

In addition, teams composed of parents, students and teachers cleaned up since last Friday to get schools to students with no major problems.

However, to sustain this reduction and further decrease the rates of influenza, the Ministry of Education announced a voucher that schools can buy soap and alcohol gel.
