The Ministry of Health confirmed today that there are 11 cases of people infected and three died of H1N1 influenza in the last three weeks.
The Ministry of Health, reported that those infected have an age range between 11 and 62.
Also during this period, they confirmed three people died as a result of the spread of this disease coupled with other conditions such as obesity and high blood pressure of 54 victims, 55 and 30, respectively.
Ethel Maria Trejos, Director of Health Surveillance, said that this increase is due to the change in temperature caused by cold fronts and lack of preventative measures and health throughout the population.
Due to these circumstances the Ministry is calling on Costa Ricans to implement preventive and control measures such as frequent hand washing, using alcohol gel as well as the implementation of seasonal influenza vaccine, which contains the virus A.
The cases of people infected with the virus have occurred in the mostly areas of poverty in neighborhoods throughout San Jose, Perez Zeledon, Goicoechea, Paradise, and Aserr? Tarraz?.
