Coronavirus in Guatemala: Health announces 20 deaths and 174 infections
The Health Minister, Hugo Monroy, announced on a national network that this Wednesday, June 3, the country registered 174 new cases of covid-19 and lamented 20 deaths from covid-19.

    Posted on June 3, 2020 at 8:06 p.m.

In data provided nationwide this Wednesday, Monroy said that 20 people died, there were 174 cases of new infections and 105 patients recovered.

Of the deceased, seven are women and 13 are men, for which reason he emphasized maintaining security measures, such as distancing himself and wearing the mask, in order to stop the pandemic.

With these data, the country reaches a total of five thousand 760 detected cases, as well as four thousand 686 active cases.

At the same conference, President Alejandro Giammattei recommended that he immediately go for help when the virus is suspected, since, he exemplified, a patient died an hour after admission, when the condition was already advanced.

"Two of the three parts of the deceased on this day arrived in a state that was impossible to save his life," added the president, who assured that at the moment "we do not have collapsed public health hospitals."

Despite the fact that in these two weeks there has been an upturn in cases, the Government announced that it will ease the movement restrictions next weekend, which will be governed by the current curfew; that is, from 6 pm to 5 am the following day.

In fact, the Ministry of Health has already published an agreement in the official newspaper on the stages of unconfinement.

This Tuesday, Health authorities also announced at a press conference that more than 130 health workers were infected with covid-19, including doctors and nurses.

The numbers of Guatemalans diagnosed with the new coronavirus continue to expand daily, this Saturday it was confirmed that there are 307 new cases, 182 are men and 125 women.

There were 80 patients recovered and 14 deaths from covid-19 were reported.

In total, 1 thousand 630 tests were carried out this day to diagnose this disease.

On March 13, the first case of covid-19 in our country was confirmed, since then data updates by government authorities are carried out daily.
          Tests

On Friday, Edwin Asturias, presidential commissioner against coronavirus, explained that they have the capacity to do up to 1,800 tests a day and with a new algorithm it is planned to be able to increase the data.

That same day, the Ministry of Public Health also reported that there are 196 municipalities throughout the country that have positive cases of coronavirus and there are 144 that do not have infections.

Although there is not yet a definite date to resume public passenger transport service, the Transmetro came out as part of a trial of health protocols.

The tour, again, of the Transmetro units occurs 82 days after the presidential order that suspended all circulation of public passenger transport, as a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
          In drugstore

Nine Workers of the Drug Accessibility Program (Proam), whose headquarters are located in the La Verbena neighborhood, zone 7 of Guatemala City, tested positive for covid-19, the Ministry of Health confirmed this Saturday, June 6. , although the workers affirm that they are more cases.

          Phase

The route to return to the new normality is written in agreement 146-2020 of the Ministry of Health and for the reopening to begin, some indicators of the coronavirus in Guatemala must be met.

Edwin Asturias, director of the Presidential Commission against covid-19 (Coprecovid) explained that there are still several days before this happens.

"We are in the acceleration phase of the pandemic. We are not even close to that phase 0. We are in the escalation, but the escalation does not only involve cases, but also the ability to care for the disease. When we have flattened the wave, we will be able to work on those indicators, "said Asturias.

Guatemala continues with death toll in chain, 316 in total

Guatemala, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Guatemala registered 27 deaths from Covid-19 today, the highest number since the disease's entry here, which now reaches 8,221 positive cases, according to data provided by the Minister of Cheers, Hugo Monroy.

The official said that 355 new positives were added this Wednesday to the total of infected, of them, 6 thousand 399 are active.

Those recovered rose to 1,504 and 1,638 tests were carried out, an amount very far from the 5,000 proposed as a goal by the Presidential Commission against Covid (Coprecovid) in this critical phase of the pandemic.

Since last week, daily cases have remained on average above 300, even, last Monday there was a record, with 447.

Similar upward behavior is observed in the number of deaths, as from May 15 they occur in a chain and with peaks of 20 (June 3 and 5), 22 (June 7) until today with 27, for a cumulative out of 316.

The day before, the President of Coprecovid unveiled a new strategy to deal with the disease in this phase of acceleration, confirming that the national hospitals Roosevelt and San Juan de Dios will receive critical patients and not temporary ones as until now.

The rearrangement seeks to avoid the dreaded collapse of health centers at its first symptoms last week amid allegations of mismanagement of the epidemic by the Ministry, including requests for resignation of Monroy and his team, in addition to lack of supplies basic and medical and nursing staff unhappy about delays in paying their salaries.

The planning leaves mild or asymptomatic cases for area hospitals and municipal care centers, which could also remain in their homes under strict quarantine, according to the stratification scheme disclosed.

Currently, one in five Guatemalans who come to health centers for a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is positive, 20 percent, confirmed Asturias.

The department of Guatemala continues with the numbers in red, registering 67.77 percent of the total infected, followed by San Marcos (5.78 percent), Chimaltenango (2.91 percent) and Escuintla (2.58 ).
