Phnom Penh: On January 10, 2025, the Ministry of Health issued a press release on the case of death due to bird flu on a 28-year-old man at Village 22, Chamkar Andong Commune, Chamkar Leu District, Kampong Cham Province.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health informed the public that there was one case of bird flu in a 28-year-old man and was confirmed positive for the H5N1 bird flu virus (H5N1) from the National Institute of Public Health in January 9, 2025, residing in Village 22, Chamkar Andong Commune, Chamkar Leu District, Kampong Cham Province. Despite the care and rescue of doctors, due to the serious condition of the patient, including fever, cough, fatigue and difficulty breathing, the patient died on January 10, 2025. According to the investigation, the patient's family raises chickens as a family, and the man is the caretaker and cooks the sick chickens.
The National and Sub-National Emergency Response Team of the Ministry of Health has been cooperating with the working groups of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Ministry of Environment, local authorities at all levels to actively investigate the outbreak of bird flu and respond.
