More transplant donors for leukemia patients needed in Japan
TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The fight against leukemia has great strides in Japan over the past two decades as bone marrow transplants have increased thanks to a nationwide donor program. But the donor pool needs to be expanded further to give more patients on the waiting list the chance of finding a "match" -- and thus a shot at the life-saving surgery.
