Cute and furry tourist attractions cause fishermen anguish in Hokkaido

WAKKANAI, Hokkaido -- A fishing port here that faces the Japan Sea is used by spotted seals as a wintering spot, and because of this, is a popular tourist destination. But the ever-growing number of seals has frustrated local fishermen, casting doubts about whether the fishing industry and the wild animals can achieve a peaceful coexistence.
