The parents of students at an elementary school in southwestern Japan have removed volcanic ash from the school ground.
About 80 people took part in the cleaning at Otobo Elementary School on Sunday......

Meteological Agency to observe Mt Shinmoe
The Meteorological Agency warns that Mount Shinmoe, in southwestern Japan, is likely to continue strong eruptions. The volcano spewed smoke from its crater on Sunday, after erupting violently on Friday.
Mount Shinmoe is in the Kirishima mountain range, which straddles Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures....

Children at an elementary school in southwestern Japan were all smiles on Monday as they were able to use their school ground for the first time in nearly a month.
Otobo Elementary School in Miyakonojo City is only 22 kilometers from Mount Shinmoe, which started erupting last month....
