    Possibly the meat was contaminated during an outbreak earlier this year.

    Prevention and Quarantine Bureau, said abnormal carcasses sampled submission, the Council of Agriculture Animal Health tests today confirmed H5N8 subtype notification of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus, frozen carcasses be destroyed immediately, slaughterhouses and in accordance with procedures after the completion of cleaning and disinfection, clearance for 24 hours.

    Prevention and Quarantine Bureau shows that the 24th batch of poultry synced back to chase a possible source of the field, namely, 5 games, including three games for the empty field, including two games Yunlin County, Chiayi County, one field; additional two games still keep Tainan site inspection health of chickens are good, control the movement has been performed in accordance with standard operating procedures, and the sample sent to the animal health inspection.

    Epidemiological comments Suspicious signs were observed in poultry carcasses during postmortem inspection in one abattoir in Taichung City. Samples were sent to the Animal Health Research Institute (AHRI) for analysis. Highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N8 was confirmed by the AHRI. The carcasses were destroyed and thorough cleaning and disinfection have been conducted in the abattoirs. After tracing back to the farm of origin, samples have been sent to the AHRI for diagnosis. Any positive results will be included in follow-up reports.
