    Guo Hongwei, director of the Disease Control Agency?s Epidemic Center, explained that the confirmed case was a 5-year-old boy living in Luang Prabang province in northern Laos. He became ill on February 28 and subsequently tested positive for H5N6 on March 8. Healed; had contact with poultry before the onset of the disease, and the poultry tested positive for H5N6; none of the contacts at home or in the hospital had the disease.

      Michael Coston has made a nice geographical map of H5N6 cases to date and is waiting to see what more information is gathered about the reported Laos case above before adding it to his map.
