AI farm dog and cat test results are all spoken out
(Seoul-Yonhap News) Jung-gu, a reporter at Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi Province, plans to investigate whether AI-infected cases of H5N6 have been infected, .
and plan to inspect 10 AI in seven major cities including 11 major cities, .
The catch criteria are Sejong City, Gyeonggi Anseong, Yeoju, Icheon, Chungbuk Province, and Jincheon where the AI has been found.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, all of the 1,189 cases of AI, including dogs, cats, and pigs, were found on the AI-farm and nearby farms.
However, since the case of a cats infected with AI was revealed at a home in Pocheon instead of a farm, it is said that wild cats are likely to have been exposed to AI by feeding on birds.
"There was a case in which AI antibodies were detected in 2014, but at that time there were many cases of feeding chickens with AI in poultry farms to dogs, but now this is prohibited, "In that sense, I see cat infections as a special case."
The results of the survey are expected to come in the middle of the month considering the capture period (3 ~ 13 days) and the inspection period (average 5 days).
Earlier, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries said it had no plans to artificially capture cats and dogs and to slaughter them, considering possession of violations of the Animal Protection Act.
However, AI plans to consider slaughtering dogs and cats that have been tested positive for livestock by the Livestock Prevention Act.
On the other hand, the case of cat infections led to a careful response from the Department of Agricul- tural Affairs regarding the concern that AI could spread to the path of birds → cats instead of cats → cats.
"There have been no cases of horizontal transmission of cats between H5N6 and H5N6," said Lee Hee-su, director of bird diseases at the Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock Quarantine Headquarters.
However, H5N1, another virus type, was found to have horizontal propagation in the laboratory, and in Thailand, there was also horizontal spread between tigers, a feline.
About the possibility of horizontal spreading Kim Yong-sang, director of the Department of Veterinary Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, said, "There were five AI-farms within 1 km of the Pocheon home where cat's dead were found. The epidemiological analysis of cat's activity radius, "He said.
To confirm that horizontal propagation has been done, it is interpreted that it is only possible to estimate through the current dynamic epidemiological survey, and it is not easy to come to a definite conclusion.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries promoted national preventive measures such as publicizing the animals to avoid contact with animals such as wild birds and cats, and urged veterinarians and animal shelter staff who frequently come in contact with animals to thoroughly observe preventive measures.http://www.yonhapnews.co.kr/economy/...?template=2087
