Re: Japan - Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant Crisis Units 1-6 Reports, News, Graphics - January 13, 2012 +

Thanks you Makoto for all the work documenting and reporting on the Fukushima Daiichi events.

It has come to our attention that some people on the internet are exploiting this tragedy by sensationalizing and creating false stories about Fukushima.

Please judge carefully what you are viewing on the internet - especially if the site is asking for donations. Usually the truth is much more boring than a story that has been sensationalized.

The earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011 was a great tragedy of our time. An estimated 15,000+ lost their lives. People drowned in their cars, homes, schools. We have all seen the videos. People racing to out run the approaching waters, only to be lost from sight as they lose their footing and disappear in the wall of debris. Over 3200 are still missing.

It is a travesty to the victims to twist the truth about the events of that day and continuing issues involving the radiation from the Fukushima nuclear facility.

We should honor the victims, their families, and the entire community of Japan by telling the true story of events as they happen.

We have learned much about earthquakes, tsunamis, fault lines, radiation, and nuclear accidents from this event. We owe all the victims a duty for their sacrifice to use this information for the betterment of society.

Again, thank you Makoto for all of your hard work diligently documenting these events.

The number of foreign visitors to Japan is making a sound recovery as the country prepares to mark the first anniversary of the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami that triggered the disaster at the Fukushima No. 1 Nuclear Power Plant. However, while Japan welcomes a steady influx of tourists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the number of visitors from South Korea, which accounts for a major share of Japan's tourism market, has yet to show a marked recovery.
