    10th January 2025 – (Hong Kong) The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) announced today that samples from a licensed pig farm in Wong Nai Tun, Yuen Long, have tested positive for the African Swine Fever (ASF) virus.

    An AFCD spokesperson reported, “Eleven pig samples were taken from the farm, and at least three tested positive for ASF. As per our contingency plan, we have suspended all transportation of pigs from the affected farm until further notice. The AFCD is also arranging for the culling of pigs as a precaution.” ...
    In addition, the AFCD is conducting inspections at three pig farms within a three-kilometre radius of the infected farm, collecting samples for ASF testing. Movements of pigs on these farms have also been suspended as a precaution. So far, there have been no reports of abnormalities from farms outside this zone. ...
