Dozens of dead ducks found in Apple Valley pond
A group of teenagers found nearly three dozen dead ducks in an Apple Valley pond Saturday afternoon.
The Department of Natural Resources is trying to find out what happened to the birds.
Police were out at the pond on Saturday, collecting the dead ducks in coolers, garbage cans and bags. Authorities said they found 37 ducks in all. The ducks will be stored until Dakota County Natural Resource scientists can analyze them.
"We were biking around and we came through (the pond area) and we saw a duck and we counted some of them and then realized there's a bunch," said Nick Harvey, one of the teenagers who spotted the ducks.
The DNR said they do not want to speculate as to what caused the ducks to die.
