Galveston dolphin deaths investigated

GALVESTON ? Researchers are trying to determine whether more than 100 dolphins stranded on the Texas Gulf Coast, most of them in Galveston, died because of the BP oil spill, a deadly algal bloom or some undetermined cause.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ruled last month that the dolphin deaths qualified as an ?unusual mortality event,? said Blair Mase, NASA southeast region marine mammal stranding coordinator. She said 123 dolphins were stranded from November through March in Galveston, Aransas, Calhoun, Kleburg and Brazoria counties...
