President Cyril Ramaphosa announced tonight that the country is moving to Level 3 from June 1. Some major cities will be treated as “hotspots” and will require greater interventions. He described a “hotspot” as being an area that has more than 5 infected people per 100 000 population.

Cases rise by 1 466, death toll at 577, recoveries at 14 370
The Covid-19 death toll hit 577 on Thursday - an increase of 25, Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said.
The number of cases has shot up by 1 466, taking the total to 27 403.
A total of 655 723 tests have been conducted to date.
The recoveries to date are 14 370 which translates to a recovery rate of 52,4%.
