Covid-19: Morocco nears 5,000 cases of contamination
                    Posted by Ouchagour Leila
                    Date: May 03, 2020

Morocco recorded 174 new cases of Covid-19 contamination, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 4,903 cases this Sunday, May 3.

This is what emerges from the daily assessment established by the Ministry of Health at 4 pm. The supervisory ministry announces that it has excluded in the last 24 hours 1,443 suspect cases after negative results of analyzes carried out in the laboratory thus increasing the number of cases spread to 36,081 since the start of the crisis in Morocco.

                    182 remissions in 24 hours

The good news in this bulletin is that the number of remissions is increasing. There are 1,438 healings this Sunday, including 182 recorded in the last 24 hours. It should be noted that among the newly recovered cases, 81 of them were from Ouarzazate. On the other hand, Morocco has recorded since Saturday 1 new death linked to Covid-19 thus bringing the number of deaths to 174 this Sunday at 4 PM. Recall that the new cases declared in the last 24 hours have been detected in Casablanca-Settat, F?s -Meknes, Marrakech-Safi, Tanger-T?touan-Al Hoceima and to a lesser extent in Rabat-Sal?-K?nitra. However, the geographic distribution remains unchanged.

The Casablanca-Settat region is still in the lead with a total of 1,265 contaminations, followed by Marrakech-Safi where 1,070 cases are listed. The Tanger T?touan Al Hoceima region is in third place with a total of 704 cases at the time when Fez-Meknes has so far recorded 619 cases. The number of infections in the Dar?a-Tafilalet region rose to 548 cases compared to 342 in the Rabat-Sal?-K?nitra region. The Oriental region is in 7th place with 175 cases reported on a regional scale, followed by the Beni Mellal-Kh?nifra region (84 cases) and the Souss-Massa region (51 cases). The La?youne-Sakia El Hamra and Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab regions continue to record the lowest number of infections, 4 and 2 cases respectively since the start of the crisis.

The “Wraqi” platform: An essential tool for monitoring the disease

In the context of mobilization against Covid-19, the personnel of the Ministry of Health is on the front line. Several means have been put in place to monitor the disease, including the citizen platform "Wraqi" launched since March 23, 2020 by the Ministry of Health and Marita Group to allow better management of the evolution of the pandemic in Morocco. Used mainly by employees of the Ministry of Health, this solution makes it possible to precisely follow the spread of the coronavirus according to the number of cases by region, by age group, or even to know the number of people healed.

In addition, she helps manage the stocks of equipment and drugs. The platform also makes it possible to generate forecast dashboards. In addition, it offers all citizens the possibility of filling in a self-assessment sheet for their health, which is then sent back to the Ministry of Health, explain the designers of this project, stating that setting it up in record time such a tool to support the Ministry of Health in managing this crisis would not have been possible without relying on the old Wraqi platform. In a next step, the objective will be to offer more remote administrative services to citizens to guarantee them more security and a better quality of service, underline the project managers.
