    Coronavirus in Morocco: the toll climbs to 1888 affected cases

    The toll of the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) continues to climb in Morocco. The number of people tested positive rose until Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. local time in 1888, the health ministry said on its digital portal.

    The same source specifies that to date the number of healings has dropped to 217, while the number of deaths has stagnated at 126. As for the number of cases excluded following negative tests, it has reached 8034 to date.

      Morocco therefore exceeds the threshold of 2000 cases today by recording 136 new cases during the last 24 hours for a total assessment, to date at 18:00, of 2024 cases.       Only one death has been recorded in the past 24 hours, making a total of 127 people dead today due to the virus.

      The number of healed, thank God, is increasing, with 12 new cases fully recovered today, for a total of 229 cases, said Lyoubi.

      He also indicated that the number of laboratories authorized to test Covid 19 has been increased. Today, in addition to the Pasteur Institute in Casablanca and the National Institute of Hygiene in Rabat, there are the laboratories of military hospitals, 6 laboratories of CHUs and 2 polyclinic laboratories.

        Morocco has recorded 2,283 cases of Covid-19 contamination since the start of the epidemic, including 130 deaths and 249 people recovered, while the number of cases excluded after negative results stands at 9,713.

        2,283 is the total number of people infected with Covid-19 since the start of the epidemic in Morocco, an increase of 259 cases in 24 hours.

        The Ministry of Health also indicated that during the past 24 hours:

        - 20 new remissions were recorded. The total number of healings is 249.

        - 3 new deaths have been recorded. The total number of deaths from coronavirus is 130.

        Within the provinces and prefectures, the Ministry of Health has noted a dynamic around certain households and families in which the number of cases is constantly increasing. Thus, 12,357 contact persons have been placed under surveillance so far, which has made it possible to detect 1,128 confirmed cases.

        Regarding the health status of confirmed cases, more than 16% were symptom-free, 75% were mild or mild, and 9% were advanced or in serious condition.

        The ranking of the most affected regions has not changed:

        1st position: Casablanca-Settat (29.8% of cases)
        2nd position: Marrakech-Safi. (21.3% of cases)

          Two hundred forty-five (245) new cases of infection with the new coronavirus (Covid-19) were recorded in Morocco from Thursday, April 16 at 6 p.m. until Friday, April 17 at 10 a.m., bringing to 2528 the total number of cases of contamination, announces the Ministry of Health on the portal "www.covidmaroc.ma".

          During this interval, three deaths were recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 133 since the start of the epidemic. The same period also saw the full recovery of 24 people. The number of cases cured thus reached 273.

          In addition, the number of cases excluded after negative results of analyzes carried out in the laboratory is 9995, says the same source.

            One hundred twenty-one (121) new cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been recorded during the last 24 hours, until Saturday April 18, 2020 at 6:00 pm, bringing the total assessment to 2685, said the director of the epidemiology and disease control at the Ministry of Health, Mohamed El Youbi, during a press briefing held late Saturday afternoon.

            Also in the past 24 hours, 2 new deaths have been recorded. The total number of deaths has thus risen to 137 since the start of the epidemic. The morbidity rate, however, rose to 5.1%, falling day by day, our Mr. El Youbi.

            The same interval also saw the complete recovery of 33 people, bringing the number of cases cured to 314.

            As for commercial and industrial outbreaks recorded in the last three days, only one additional case has been recorded in Casablanca during the last 24 hours, while no new case has been recorded in the outbreaks of Marrakech, Fez and the family from Nador.

            However, two new outbreaks have been detected in Tangier. It is an industrial unit (9 cases) and a family environment (also 9 cases).

            Mr. El Youbi also added that the majority of the cases detected were revealed during the medical follow-up of the contact persons.
