Nine dead in Malaria-like Outbreak in Wolaita Zone

(borkena)At least nine people have died of a disease which has similar symptoms with malaria over the last few days in Wolaita Zone Offa district, ENA reported citing District Health Officer.
In mid-August, a similar outbreak has killed 16 people in the district, according to Addisu Wordku, head at woreda health office.
Number of Patients with symptoms like high fever, headaches, joint pain, yellowing of the eyes and nose bleeding, have increased in a health center over the last weeks.
Health professional think that the symptoms are related to malaria, and chemical spray is done to halt the outbreak, said Addisu.
Desalegn Fanata, Zonal health office head said that health professionals are sent to the area to examine the type of the diseases; ?we found that the symptoms are like that of yellow fever,? he added...
