To clarify the situation and reassure residents, a ministerial commission was dispatched to the site on Sunday by the Ministry of Health and Hospital Reform. This team will conduct thorough investigations and collect samples for medical analysis.
The mayor emphasized that the final report will be released exclusively by the Ministry of Health, which remains the sole authority empowered to announce official results. The circulation of alarming rumors was fueled by widely shared Facebook posts claiming that the mysterious illness caused intense fever, convulsions, coma, and death, affecting seven people in the municipality, with three deaths, two cases of disability, one case in intensive care, and one recovery.
Some posts referred to a "strange situation that cannot be a coincidence" and called for swift intervention from the authorities to avert "a major catastrophe." Despite the panic, the residents of Serghine maintained that the situation was normal. They emphasized the need for transparent and rapid action to allay concerns and restore public trust.
