In statements to ANGOP, the official explained that the province currently has a total of 35 active cases of the disease, under monitoring by health authorities.
The province has registered 26 new suspected cases of the disease, of which 23 are hospitalized at the Mpox Treatment Center (CTV) in Tchizo, while three remain in home isolation under medical supervision.
According to Filipe Camanda, the suspected cases involve patients who present with skin lesions and are currently in the sample collection phase, with samples being sent to the National Institute for Health Research (INIS).
He advised the public to seek out the nearest health units if they experience symptoms such as fever, body aches, and the appearance of skin lesions, in order to allow for rapid diagnosis and treatment.
The official noted that, since the outbreak began in May of this year, 220 suspected cases of monkeypox have been reported, of which 92 tested positive, 37 being male and 55 female.
He added that 105 people have already been discharged from epidemiological surveillance after completing treatment and no longer posing a transmission risk. JFC/DP
