  • Denmark measures low herd immunity in blood from blood donors

    Apr 05, 2020

We have started measuring the antibodies blood from the blood donors, which indicates that about 3.5 percent of the healthy population in Copenhagen has antibodies to coronavirus and less than two percent in Aarhus, he says.

Henrik Ullum had hoped that the number of people with antibodies was higher. Because as it seems right now, another wave of coronavirus could potentially hit Denmark just as hard as the first.

    - If we had a high herd immunity, then reopening the community is not problematic. But with a low herd immunity, there are still many who are at risk for coronavirius. The numbers indicate that we are not very far with coronavirus.

The figures from the blood banks are sent to the National Serum Institute so that they can lay out strategies for the future on the best possible basis.

I de seneste dage har antallet af indlagte med coronavirus v?ret stabilt. Det er b?de positivt, men det skubber ogs? en r?kke problemer til fremtiden.
