The total number of cases in Bahrain rose to 2,921 after 52 more people tested positive for the virus. The death toll stands at eight, while the number of recoveries reached 1,455.

MANAMA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain authorities said on Thursday that 59 frontline healthcare workers have been infected with COVID-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February.
Health Ministry's Public Health Director Dr Najat Abu AL Fateh said, "There were 33 medical workers including doctors, nurses and other health professionals who were infected with COVID-19, and 26 supporting staff doing cleaning and maintenance were infected."
Forty of the above cases have recovered, said the official.
As of Wednesday evening, Bahrain reported a total of 3,934 infections with eight deaths from the coronavirus
