MONTEGO BAY, St James ? Haiti's Under-17 players and officials were scheduled to leave the island yesterday after officially withdrawing from the CONCACAF Championship due to a malaria outbreak within their ranks.
The Haitians, who have played only one of their two Group A matches in the tournament being hosted in the tourist city of Montego Bay, were forced to pull out after at least three members of their delegation ? two players and a coach ? were found to be suffering from the infectious disease late Tuesday.
The Observer learned that on Monday the three were taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital with high fever and were admitted...
