Strange moon-like object seen in Mashonaland
Sunday, 29 September 2013 20:06
here are reports of an unidentified flying object (UFO) that flew across the sky between seven and 7.15pm Sunday evening.

ZBC News received calls from people in Karoi in Mashonaland West, Mt Darwin in Mashonaland Central and Mutoko in Mashonaland East provinces, all confirming having seen the object, which they described as bigger than the moon and moving from the east to the north.

Fortunate Moyo, who was in Karoi travelling along Harare-Chirundu highway, said he was shocked to have seen such a big object flying to the north.

ZBC News' Mashonaland Central Bureau Chief, Hector Murombedzi, confirmed receiving several calls from people who witnessed the strange 'moon.'

People who visited ZBC News Online also confirmed having seen the object from as far as Botswana, South Africa and Malawi.

When contacted for comment, an official from the Meteorological Services Department said they can only comment after liaising with their officers in the respective places.

This is not the first time that foreign objects have been found in Zimbabwe.

Some time in July 2013, an object was found at Mulota Village 4 resettlement near Old Trauma Centre Zimplats Mine, Zvehama Village in Manicaland and in Chikwanha village in Mashonaland East.

According to Police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba, police attended the scene and noted that the unidentified object, which resembled a rocket and is made of metal and aluminium material, was three metres long and had a diameter of 1,8 metres.

Police also discovered that the bolts used to fasten the objects were inscribed NAS 13004-41CS.
