Wyoming Announces State's First Swine Flu Death

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) ― The Wyoming Department of Health says a young woman from Fremont County is the first state resident to die from swine flu.

The department announced Wednesday that the woman had an underlying health condition that increased her risk of having complications from influenza.

Wyoming was one of the last states in the country to detect swine flu when health officials confirmed the state's first case in May. To date, Wyoming health officials have confirmed 158 cases of the virus in 15 different counties.
