A POTENTIALLY fatal strain of E coli has forced the closure of a unit for vulnerable babies.
The neonatal unit in Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich has been closed to outside admissions since November 17 and it will remain so until the outbreak has been dealt with.
This could see an overlap with the closure of the maternity ward at Queen Mary?s Hospital, Sidcup on December 13.
However, additional support may be available from neighbouring borough, Lewisham.
