Woman dies, H1N1 suspected

MADIKERI: In a suspected H1N1 case, a 24-year-old woman died at the district hospital on Friday.
District surgeon Dr Ajith Kumar said Kaushalya was brought here in serious condition from Bangalore on Friday morning. She was unconscious and suffered from breathing problems and high fever. She was working at a garment factory at BTM Layout in Bangalore. She was admitted to the St John's Hospital and was shifted to Devegowda Hospital on Thursday. As the hospital charges were exhorbitant at Rs 40,000 per day, the family decided to shift her to Soorlabbi village in Kodagu, where she hails from. They travelled all through the night and she was admitted to the government hospital here.
Dr Ajith said the swab samples have been sent to Bangalore for testing and the actual cause of death could be ascertained only after receiving the result.
