He's recovering but even after a visit to the Mayo Clinic, the cause of the illness is unknown.

But in March, a mysterious illness robbed the Stockton boy of his ability to do any of them ? and nearly took his life.

Dalton and his family were on a Caribbean cruise, and on the way back Dalton suddenly got sick. His skin and eyes turned yellow, his entire body ached, and he had an excruciating headache and no appetite.

Doctors discovered that his red blood cells, which carry oxygen to his body, were destroying themselves faster than they could be produced. Doctors worried it could cut off oxygen to his major organs.

Later his white blood cells would plummet until they were practically gone, leaving him no way to fight off infection...

Dalton Cook, a 2012 Winona Senior High graduate, became seriously ill after traveling out of the country in March. He has had eleven blood transfusions, 4 IVIG transfusions and two bone marrow biopsies. After numerous tests physicians from the Mayo Clinic are still unsure of the cause of his illness. In fact, the Mayo Clinic has put out a national query looking for answers...
