Wisconsin Health Officials Still Investigating Cause Of Lung Disease Among E-Cigarette Users
Heath Officials Look Into Teens, Young Adults With Breathing Problems

State health officials are reporting more cases of "severe lung disease" among teens and young adults who use e-cigarettes.

There are 11 confirmed cases, with seven more under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. The cases required hospitalizations.

The counties with confirmed cases include Racine, Door, Walworth, Dodge, Waukesha, and Winnebago.

The health department said that all the patients they interviewed reported vaping in the weeks and months prior to being hospitalized after experiencing shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain, coughing, and weight loss. Officials said the severity of the cases varied and some patients needed assistance breathing.

Some of the patients improved with treatment but officials say they're investigating whether the lung disease will cause long-term damage...

Doctors in Wisconsin have confirmed new cases of lung disease tied to vaping, officials with the state Department of Health Services said Thursday.

The new cases included older people in addition to teens, all of whom reported vaping or ?dabbing,? which is vaping marijuana oils, extracts or concentrates.

Officials have confirmed a total of 12 cases and are investigating 13 other cases.

?We are continuing to interview patients so we can identify a possible cause,? said Department of Health Services Secretary-designee Andrea Palm. ?All patients reported vaping prior to their hospitalization, but we don?t know all the products they used at this time. The products used could include a number of substances, including nicotine, THC, synthetic cannabinoids, or a combination of these.?...
