Health officials continue to investigate the deaths of two Oshkosh teens that died unexpectedly this month.

The Oshkosh Health Department is working in conjunction with the state Division of Public Health and the Winnebago County Coroner's Office to try to determine what caused the deaths of Megan Corinne Hanson, 16, and Kyle R. Stenberg, 17, after brief illnesses.

"It would be nice to have answers right away, but it takes time to run tests," said Denise Krueger, a public health nurse with the city. "You want to make sure nothing is missed."

It does not appear the deaths are a result of illnesses that would put other people at risk, Krueger said, and health officials are not aware of any connections between the two teens. Krueger said officials have been able to rule out H1N1 as the cause of death in both cases.

Stenberg, a student at Oshkosh North High School, died March 20 and Hanson, a student at Oshkosh West, died March 11.
