Wichita schools ends H1N1 parent notices
By The Associated Press

WICHITA - The Wichita school district says it will stop notifying parents when there is a confirmed case of H1N1 at their child's school.

The district announced the decision in a statement Tuesday. The district says that for every case of H1N1 confirmed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, there are dozens more not confirmed.

It also notes that the H1N1 virus is widespread throughout the community and health precautions are the same regardless of the type of flu.

Wichita parents were being told of the new policy through automated phone calls. The message also reminds them to keep sick children at home and return them to school only when they are free of fever for 24 hours.
