Bird flu is making a reappearance in Wisconsin, new case found in Barron County

BARRON COUNTY (WQOW) - Another case of avian influenza — commonly known as bird flu — is confirmed in a Barron County commercial flock. This comes after cases have been identified in Taylor and Trempealeau Counties in the past two weeks.
Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) said they and the USDA are working with animal health officials on a joint incident response.
News 18 asked where the commercial flock is and what type of birds were affected but have not received those details yet. Officials said in a press release "the affected premises will not move poultry products, and birds on the property will be depopulated to prevent the spread of the disease."
Officials added that bird flu does not pose a food safety risk, and that properly handling and cooking poultry and eggs to an internal temperature of 165 degrees kills the virus...
