DHS Confirms Case of Measles in Dane County
Health officials investigating to identify possible exposures

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) has confirmed a case of measles in an individual living in Dane County, with travel and employment in Rock County. DHS, in coordination with Public Health Madison & Dane County and Rock County Public Health, are working to identify and notify people who may have been exposed to the measles virus. Additional information will be shared as the investigation continues.

Cases of measles have been rare in Wisconsin due to high vaccination rates, but measles is highly contagious and can cause serious health complications for those who are not vaccinated. The best way to protect yourself from measles is to get the measles vaccine (MMR). Two doses of the measles vaccine are 97% effective at preventing the disease.

Wisconsin residents can find their immunization records using the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR). Instructions are available in English, Spanish, and Hmong. If you are unable to access your records, please contact your doctor's office or your local health department.​..

ROCK COUNTY, Wis. (WIFR) - Rock County Public Health (RCPH) warns the community of possible exposure to measles.

A Dane County individual spent time in Rock County while infectious. RCPH, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Public Health Madison and & County, and SSM Health work to identify and notify people who may have been exposed to the measles virus.

You may have been exposed to measles if you visited the following locations:

Kwik Trip – 603 W Madison Ave in Milton, Wis. – between 2:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.
SSM Health Dean Medical Group – 3200 E Racine St, Janesville, Wis. – between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, April 22.
SSM Health Mary’s Hospital – 3200 E Racine St, Janesville, Wis. – between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23.​..
