Given sufficient intimidation and potential for prosecution or law suits against anyone who releases private medical information, particularly if it involves a minor, I believe information will be tightly controlled. Therefore, I do believe that symptomatic cases could be isolated without being reported and even testing results kept confidential. They can always fall back on HIPPA as the reason. I agree with Graupel that they wouldn't be able to keep the lid on it for long, but I think they could delay the news breaking by at least a week.
If there are no symptomatic cases at this point, I would think the CDC and Dallas County would be shouting it from the rooftops. .
If there are no symptomatic cases at this point, I would think the CDC and Dallas County would be shouting it from the rooftops. After all, if his fiance and primary caregiver isn't showing symptoms, that would validate the mantra that this is not very contagious and that one must be heavily exposed to bodily fluids to become infected.
That's an interesting thought. I don't think officials would lie outright about possible cases, but they may not make an announcement without a positive test, which could take a while.

(2) For purposes of this subsection, the term ?qualifying stage?, with respect to a communicable disease, means that such disease?
(A) is in a communicable stage; or
(B) is in a precommunicable stage, if the disease would be likely to cause a public health emergency if transmitted to other individuals.
If one of them started to show symptoms they would need to be hospitalized and isolated. It would be difficult to keep that quite.
