candidates are:

seasonal H1N2
seasonal H3N2
swine H1N1
avian H5N1
avian H7Nx
avian H9N2
etc.

seasonal H1N1 didn't reassort much with seasonal H3N2 in the past

did human H1N1,H3N2 reassort with swine H1N1 in the past ?

There are some examples. And I think this is the most likely threat now.

There is apparantly a large pool of swine-flu viruses with
big diversity about which we don't know much.
The emergence of M**flu which is distant to all known
swine viruses proves it.

M. Lubeck, P. Palese and J. Schulman analyzed 40 reassortant viruses derived from A/PR/8/34 (H1N1) and A/HK/8/68 (H3N2) in the laboratory (Lubeck, Palese and Schulman, 1979). They found strong correlations among segments 1, 2 and 3, 1 and 5, and 3 and 8.
