Sorry Denise - can't even view the article. The snip I could see seems to quote Dr Jahrling as saying it is a good idea - yet I am sure he said in his lecture that it was ineffective as a therapy in non human primates. The point of the article is that there should be more research into taking advantage of the fact that some exposed people, who never get ill, develop antibodies- and those should be utilized in some way.

Thanks again AlaskaDenise. I was just reading about the young nurse being moved from Dalas Hospital. There were a number of photos - and she didn't seem to be receiving any iv fluids. I don't think she was given any zmapp but vaguely recall she had a transfusion as above. If she is doing so well perhaps humans react differently to non human primates.

I think that is likely. NHP's used in BSL-4 experiments lead a stressful life. I don't think the less dramatic treatments would translate to humans.

I think that clinical observation seems to support serum treatments having potential benefit to humans. It's not proven and no miracle cure, so I'm sure it's only tried when it seems proper.
