Barasat (WB), May 2 (PTI) At least 120 persons fell ill following the outbreak of diarrhoea at one ward in Rajarhat area of North 24 Parganas district.
Out of the 120 affected by the disease since yesterday, 26 had been admitted to the Infectious Disease Hospital, Beliaghata while the rest were in stable condition, Rajarhat Municipality Chairman Tapas Chatterjee said.
A medical camp has been set up at ward no 28 where the enteric outbreak took place.

Notes: Poor sanitary condition, open defecation. Supply water from Tea Garden is the main source of drinking water. There is a possibility of water contamination in the pipeline & outlet point. Incidence of diarrhea was reported to the TG Hospital sporadically since last 15 days. But situation aggravated on 9th & 10th after a ?Sraddhya? Ceremony on 8th August, 2010. Most of the affected persons are the clan members of the deceased person. Casualty has increased due to delay reporting to the Hospital in a very severe condition 2 Stool samples have been collected on 15-08-10 & sent to the NBMC on 16.8.10.
