A West Australian adult has died from meningococcal disease, and two other adults are in hospital with the disease.

WA Health has said the cases, all described as "older adults", were not linked.

It is believed to be the first meningococcal death in the state since 2020.

Two cases were caused by serogroup B and one by serogroup W.

Meningococcal disease is caused by a bacterial infection of the blood or the membranes that line the spinal cord and brain. ...
