Well known director dies in Vietnam
Monday, 05 October 2009
Anna Marie Flynn
A Creative Director with strong links to Mayo died suddenly last week after suffering what is believed to have been a combination of infections including swine flu.
Fintan Kerrigan (pictured), son of Crossmolina residents Joe and Renee Kerrigan, and brother of Killala-based designer, Niall Kerrigan and sister Fiona, died unexpectedly last Thursday. Late of Brisbane, Australia, Dublin and Vietnam, the father-of-one is also survived by his son and wife, Paula.
Fintan Kerrigan worked at GPY&R in Brisbane until last year when he took up work in Vietnam where he was working as an Executive Creative Director at DBB Saigon.
His friend Pete Watman told media that the expat became ill about two weeks ago, checked himself into hospital and succumbed to what he described as a combination of pneumonia, a secondary infection and swine flu.
Warm tributes were paid to Fintan Kerrigan over the last week, with friends describing him as ?an extremely well known character, liked by a lot of people in Sydney and Melbourne?.
The Kerrigan family are well-respected in Mayo. While his parents are a well-known Crossmolina couple, his brother, designer Niall Kerrigan and sister-in-law, popular author Morag Prunty, are well-known throughout the region.
At the time of going to print memorial service arrangements were yet to be announced.
