Washington County, PA: Flu season starts early with three confirmed "H1N1" cases - trH3N2?

This is odd. Are they simply talking about 2009 H1N1 infections (and the location is a coincidence)? Is this a mis-report of the trH3N2 cases we are already aware of (http://www.flutrackers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=172876)? Or is this something else?

The standard trivalent flu shot is not thought ot be protective against trH3N2, so this is difficult to explain.

FAIRMONT -- A recent H1N1 outbreak in Washington County, Pa., has prompted some local health departments to offer flu vaccinations ahead of schedule.
There have been three confirmed H1N1 cases there.

In light of these flu cases, the Marion County Health Department bumped up its flu clinic almost one month ahead of schedule.

"Our concern with the H1N1 virus, especially with younger people, that is a new virus. If they haven't been exposed in previous seasons, they haven't been exposed so their body doesn't have any immunity from that virus," said Cyndee Kiger, Director of Nursing at the Marion County Health Department.

They must be confusing it with the trH3N2 cases.
Either way, the vaccine for this season is no different
than last year's, so it will provide limited protection.
