Measles diagnosed in Kootenai County resident who spent time in Sacred Heart emergency room

Local health officials have identified a measles case in a Kootenai County resident who spent time in Spokane while infectious.

The individual may have exposed measles to those in Spokane County while visiting Providence Sacred Heart Hospital for treatment. If someone was in the following locations between March 14 and March 15, they may have been exposed to measles.

SRHD confirms measles case in Spokane with multiple exposure locations
A Spokane County resident has been confirmed to have measles. Anyone experiencing symptoms should contact a medical professional.​

SPOKANE, Wash. — There is a confirmed measles infection in a Spokane County resident with multiple exposure locations, SRHD reports. Local public health officials do not believe there is any connection to the measles case reported earlier this month on March 19 that had exposures at Providence Sacred Heart emergency department.

Before their diagnosis, the individual was at the following public locations:

Measles Outbreak Declared Over in Snohomish County

EVERETT – The Snohomish County Health Department has declared an end to the recent measles outbreak, but health officials urge residents to be on the alert for future cases of the highly contagious disease.

The department recorded 14 cases of measles during the outbreak, which was announced Jan. 15. The last reported case was Feb. 17.

“After strong community support and dedicated work by our health department teams, we’re happy and relieved that the current outbreak is over,” said Snohomish County Health Officer Dr. James Lewis. “That being said, we fully expect additional cases of measles to be introduced into Snohomish County as evidenced by ongoing exposures across the state.”

So far this year, 33 cases of measles have been recorded in Washington, according to the Washington State Department of Health. The two most recent cases were reported Friday in Walla Walla and Kittitas counties.

Two cases were also reported last week in neighboring King County. The Snohomish County Health Department is following up with more than a dozen residents of Snohomish County who were potentially exposed to the virus in the King County locations.​..

Kittitas County in measles outbreak status with three cases reported, potential exposure at elementary school

ELLENSBURG -- Students, staff and volunteers at Valley View Elementary School may have been exposed to the measles earlier this month, the Kittitas County Public Health Department said Thursday.

Officials said Kittitas County was placed in outbreak status on April 23 by the Washington State Department of Health, with three current cases of measles.

A measles outbreak is declared when three or more measles cases are related.

People at the school may have been exposed to the measles between April 8 and April 15, according to the Kittitas County Public Health Department.

Staff, teachers and volunteers from Valley View Elementary have been asked to provide their current vaccination status for MMR directly to the health department.

Health officials said students who are not vaccinated cannot be at the school until the incubation period is over after May 5.​..

Second measles case confirmed in Walla Walla County

WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla County Department of Community Health says there’s a second confirmed case of measles in the county, coming from an unvaccinated resident who was exposed during international travel.

Officials say the individual was in the county during their contagious period and that further cases are possible. So far, they’ve identified one public exposure site at Le Dang’s Mongolian Grill in Walla Walla on April 20 from noon to 3 p.m.​..

Measles spreading undetected in WA? Health officials are worried

Just because measles has not been reported in most Washington counties, including Benton, Franklin and Yakima counties, does not mean it is not there.

The Washington state Department of Health officials have investigated three cases east of the Cascade Mountains without being able to determine how those individuals were exposed.

That may mean measles is spreading undetected in Washington communities, according to the Department of Health.

“We are entering a new, more dangerous stage of measles spread in Washington, and the only way to protect our communities is for Washingtonians to work together,” said Dr. Tao Sheng Kwan-Gett, the state health officer.

“All adults and children should get up to date on the MMR vaccine immediately, and everyone — vaccinated and unvaccinated — needs to stay home at the first signs if infection, even before any rash has started,” he said.

Washington state has had 40 confirmed measles cases this​ year in eight counties, with three people hospitalized due to the illness. Only 12 cases were reported in the state last year...

Clark County measles cases reach highest number since 2019 outbreak

Measles cases are once again on the rise in Clark County. Six new infections of the virus were identified on Friday by county health officials. The recent cases total nearly half of all those identified in the Southwest Washington county this year.

The cases announced Friday follow a seventh case identified on July 22 at the Vancouver Clinic Salmon Creek. Officials said the new exposures occurred in private locations and were not related to the Vancouver Clinic case. So far, one individual has been hospitalized.

“No one should feel like ‘Well, I’m sure it’s not in my network,’” said Clark County Infectious Disease Director Kim Toevs. “Everyone could potentially be exposed to it.”

The seven total cases were among unvaccinated children under the age of 18. There has been a total of 15 measles cases in Clark County in 2026.​..

Six more cases of measles confirmed in Clark County
All new cases are in unvaccinated children, Public Health says

Clark County Public Health has confirmed six additional cases of measles in the county, the agency announced Friday.

The new cases are not connected to a case of measles confirmed July 22 in an unvaccinated Clark County child.

The six new cases, all unvaccinated children, were exposed to measles in private settings, according to Clark County Public Health.

No additional public exposure locations have been identified for any of the new cases.

So far this year, Clark County has had 15 cases of measles. Eight were reported in January and February. Thirteen of the 15 cases involved unvaccinated children; the vaccination status of two adult cases were unknown...
