TACOMA, Wash. ? Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department has determined a student at Northwood Elementary School in the Puyallup School District has the mumps. The female student will not return to class until she is no longer contagious.

TACOMA, Wash. ? Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department confirmed today that a second student in the Puyallup School District has the mumps. The latest case is a female student who attends Edgemont Junior High School.

On Jan. 5, district administrators contacted the Health Department because they thought the Edgemont student might have the mumps. The Health Department confirmed the mumps case Jan. 9. The case is in addition to the mumps case the Health Department confirmed in a Northwood Elementary School student on Jan. 6. Both of the students were exposed to mumps outside of school...

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. --- Seven Mead School District students have been diagnosed with mumps.

In a letter sent to parents, the Spokane Regional Health District wrote the students will be staying home until they are no longer contagious.

More mumps. Students at four schools in Fife School District stricken

Another Pierce County school district has been notified by health officials about students diagnosed with the mumps.

Fife Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Alfano sent a message to Fife district families Wednesday saying that the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department notified the district there were three confirmed cases of mumps at Discovery Primary School, Columbia Junior High School and Fife High School.

After the message to parents went out, Alfano said, district officials were informed of a fourth student with mumps at Endeavour Intermediate School. He said his message to parents will be updated to reflect that Thursday...

31 mumps cases confirmed in Spokane County outbreak

Spokane County is currently experiencing an outbreak of mumps.

The current number of confirmed cases is 31, but according to health officials- more cases are expected.

On Tuesday the Health District confirmed seven cases in the Mead School District.

On Wednesday, Kevin Morrison with Spokane Public Schools told KHQ that their district had eight confirmed cases.

Both districts sent out releases to parents regarding the outbreaks...

UPDATE: There are now 36 confirmed cases of mumps in Spokane County, as of Friday.

Beginning Tuesday, three local school districts (Mead, Spokane Public Schools, and East Valley) will begin excluding students at certain schools who cannot prove they?ve been vaccinated for mumps.

Staff at those schools will have until January 27 to provide their vaccination forms, or proof of recent vaccination...

Mumps case confirmed in Grant County, two other cases likely

MOSES LAKE ? The Grant County Health District is reporting one confirmed case and two likely cases of mumps in three students in the Columbia Basin Job Corps.

One student has already tested positive and the other two residents are linked to the case and likely have the illness, according to Theresa Adkinson with the health district.

All three recently traveled to a county with confirmed mumps cases...
