[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Pune, July 5:[/FONT] [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]THE Pune Municipal Corporation?s health department has alerted the citizens to take precautions against spread of chikungunya, dengue and malaria. In a press note issued, medical officer of health Pramod Dhaygude said that citizens should make sure that water is not stored for a longer period of time as it is the breeding season for mosquitoes.[/FONT]

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]He said that Chikungunya mosquitoes like Eidus Egyptius mosquito breed in stored water. Therefore citizens should ensure that water is not stored in tanks, garden pots, barrels, plastic buckets and bottles. They should also take precautions that the premises outside the house remain clean.[/FONT]


[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]He added that till now no case of chikungunya has been recorded in the PMC limits. But citizens should take note that the symptoms of chkungunya are similar to dengue like fewer, bodyache, backache, vomiting and boils on body parts.[/FONT]
