Yakima County man died from rodent-borne hantavirus

YAKIMA, Wash. ? Local health officials say a Yakima County man in his 50s died of the hantavirus earlier this month, the first death from the rodent-borne virus in the state since 2009.

Because hantavirus is fatal in about one of every three cases, the Yakima Health District encourages residents to take precautions to prevent exposure to the rare but life-threatening infection...
