Two people were stabbed early Monday during a fight over missing fentanyl pills, leaving pools of blood on a street in the Bay Vista housing development and leading a Bremerton police detective to draw comparisons to the 1980s horror film, “Carrie.”

Police were called at about 6:30 a.m. to the 6700 block of Bay Vista Boulevard, the site of the now-leveled Westpark Housing Projects, after receiving word of the stabbing. Officers found one man with a serious stab wound to his upper arm being cared for by a woman covered in blood wearing a “silky, floor-length red dress.”

“She resembled the character of Carrie White from the Stephen King movie ‘Carrie,’ just after buckets of blood were dumped on her at the prom,” a Bremerton police detective wrote in court documents.

Fentanyl is a powerful, highly addictive and inexpensive synthetic opioid that has flooded Kitsap County and the region. Manufactured in illicit labs, it is often sold on the street in the form of blue pills and "smoked" using pieces of foil and straws. Officials have blamed it for a local increase in fatal overdoses.

The drug had been used by dealers to fortify lower-quality drugs, but the pills, sometimes called counterfeit Percocet, became more prominent following a 2021 state Supreme Court ruling invalidating the state's felony drug possession law...
