Timothy Lanway

LANWAY, Timothy J. "Chub" (Age 54) Entered into rest after a valiant six week fight with the H1N1 virus and resulting complications. Tim was born February 1, 1955 in Newport, Washington to Russell H. and Barbara J. Lanway, who preceded him in death. Tim went to the Lord on November 8, 2009. After a wonderful childhood and early education in Spokane, Tim was relocated to Creston, WA. On his first day of school, he was given the nickname of "Chub". To this day, many local people still use it. After graduating from Creston High School in 1973, Tim advanced his education. In February of 1975, Tim was able to fulfill his greatest ambition when he began training to become a professional truck driver under his father Russ' guidance. Tim was known for his skills, abilities, and work ethics. He appreciated the opportunities to meet new people and make new friends. Over his lifetime, Tim enjoyed a wide variety of activities. Those included water sports, boating, and camping. Tim enjoyed watching baseball, football, hockey and GU basketball. He became an avid fan of local and NASCAR stock car racing. He was involved as a car owner and driver in Republic and Spokane and was a member of these racing associations. Tim was a passionate fan of the Spokane Chiefs Hockey team. He attended many home games and followed the league standings. He was very happy and proud when his beloved Chiefs won the Memorial Cup two seasons ago. He loved being around family and people talking, kidding and joking with them. He was always interested and concerned in how their lives were. All of us who knew him will miss his very unique laugh. He was well known for his hearty laugh. Timothy is survived by: Brother Michael E. and Diane Lanway, brother Patrick D. Lanway, sister Dawn Colleen and Donald Hopkins, brother John T. Lanway; three beloved nephews, Russell Jack and Eric M. Hopkins and Nicholas S. Lanway, all of Creston, WA. Tim is loved very much and will be forever missed by his family and friends. We all thank the Lord for Tim's life. He was, in every way possible, a good son, a good brother, a good uncle and a good man. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Creston Christian Church with Pastor Don Hoffman and Father Pat MacMahon officiating. Family Inurnment will precede memorial services at Newport Cemetery. The family urges anyone who knew Tim to get vaccinated for the flu as soon as possible. Family suggests that memorials may be made to Creston Ambulance or Fire Department. STRATE FUNERAL HOME, Wilbur, WA is caring for the family.
