A Kennewick mother is thankful for a carbon monoxide detector that may have saved lives Thursday morning.
Kathryn Castanares, 23, and three children spent more than five hours in the hospital after inhaling carbon monoxide from an inversion of smolders in the fireplace at their house on West Ninth Avenue, she said.
They were all released by mid-afternoon.
The carbon monoxide caused Castanares? young son to suffer back-to-back seizures, while she became disoriented, she said. She wasn?t sure what had happened at first, but knew what was wrong when the alarm went off...
