CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS/WVAH) — West Virginia’s death total related to coronavirus continued to head toward the 300 mark Thursday with another four deaths reported.
The death total is now at 294.
Department of Health and Human Resources officials confirmed in a news release the deaths of a 69-year-old man from Berkeley County, a 75-year-old man from Berkeley County, a 91-year-old woman from Jackson County and an 80-year-old man from Roane County.
West Virginia has had 28 deaths so far this week – four on Thursday, 10 on Wednesday, five on Tuesday and nine on Monday.
The state’s cumulative positive test percentage also continued to climb toward 3% again. Thursday’s report listed it at 2.70%, up from 2.67% the previous day. The daily positive test percentage was at 4.9%. More than 497,000 tests have been conducted.
Meanwhile, the number of new cases in the state jumped by 220 for the second state day. The total number of cases was listed at 13,430. Active cases were up 97 and were at 3,332.
Hospitalizations have climbed to the highest total during the pandemic and were at 170 (up from 156 the previous day), with 58 in intensive care and 32 on a ventilator. Recoveries were up 134 and were at 9,804...
