Volunteers sought for H1N1 study in Windsor-Essex region

(CP) ? 43 minutes ago

TORONTO ? Residents in the Windsor-Essex area aged 18 to 29 and 65 and older are being asked to participate in an H1N1 virus study.

The Ontario Agency for Health Protection and Promotion says this is part of a province-wide study to determine risk factors for infection. The results will also help health officials estimate how many people are likely to get sick from the virus in the future.

Study participants will complete an online questionnaire and provide blood samples at a local laboratory.

All volunteers will be given their test results.

A list of labs in Windsor-Essex that will accept registrants is posted on the study website http://h1n1study.oahpp.ca

There have been 18 deaths in Ontario blamed on swine flu.
